Universally the notion of clothing began with a piece of cloth- draped, twisted or tied around the body in various ways. This was the starting point for Notion of Form's third collection titled ‘Cloth’. The connotations of heritage relating to draping was explored and abstracted into something new and neutral, yet with a sense of belonging.
Photographer Ronan Mckenzie’s practice began with shooting her own family and the people around her. Today she works for international brands photographing and directing but also maintaining her personal projects, focusing on faces, people and telling stories in a honest portrayal.
When Notion of Form and Ronan Mckenzie started a conversation about collaborating, the idea of shooting families felt natural to us both and our work. The collaboration resulted in ‘Material Connection’ - a series that explores the symmetry between cloth, draping, human connection and close relationships.
